Senior .Net Full Stack Software Engineer (Developer) – LH-07728
The CIO Division provides a range of enabling services and operations delivery to the department and to Australian businesses and is seeking experienced and motivated Software Engineers (full stack .Net) with a minimum of 10 years’ experience to assist with the delivery of ICT Projects within the Division.
Key duties and responsibilities
Software Engineers will be required to:
- Develop and maintain Azure based web API, microservices and Portal applications to support existing legislative reporting requirements, and new regulatory processes.
- Be able to integrate various system components to achieve a seamless end to end experience for users
- Provide technical advice on issues related to systems development
- Apply secure coding, automated testing and DevSecOps practices/processes to ensure solutions delivered are secure and robust
- Conduct peer reviews of code and infrastructure
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, containerised application delivery and cloud engineering practices using Azure DevOps, Docker and Kubernetes based deployment patterns
- Understand and code against detailed application architecture documents
- Ensure that best practice and Departmental standards are applied and managed
- Create and review technical/release documentation
- Apply AI-enabled development practices to support code generation, test creation, documentation, defect resolution, refactoring and operational support activities.
- Effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Effectively collaborate within cross functional Agile teams, mentor team members, foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement, and contribute to internal capability through knowledge transfer, reusable components, operational documentation and support materials
- Undertake additional duties as required

Essential criteria
1.Tertiary qualifications in software engineering (or equivalent experience) and experience with cloud-native patterns: Event-driven integration, and data platforms (SQL Server/Azure SQL, Blob Storage, caching) including high-volume processing.
2.Technical skills: Minimum 10 years designing, building and supporting secure full stack solutions across backend and frontend, including modern .NET (8/10) & ASP.NET Web APIs; REST API design (versioning, OpenAPI/Swagger, OAuth2/OIDC); Experience developing web applications using Angular or React.
3.Cloud and DevOps: Hands-on Azure delivery/operations across App Services/Functions, Azure SQL, Service Bus/Event Grid, API Management; CI/CD (Azure DevOps); containerisation (Docker) and Kubernetes deployment concepts; monitoring and observability (e.g., App Insights); third-party integration (e.g. Dynamics 365); and security controls (e.g. Key Vault) and legacy modernisation.
4.API-led delivery experience, including governance, OpenAPI/Swagger, performance and API security patterns.
Desirable criteria
1.Experience applying AI enabled software engineering practices and tools to improve development productivity, code quality, testing, documentation and operational support outcomes.
2.Experience with test automation and quality engineering in CI/CD (unit/integration/UI; e.g. Playwright/Selenium, Jest, static analysis).
3.Delivery approach: Experience delivering in multi-disciplinary geographically dispersed Agile teams; able to adapt scope and approach as requirements and constraints evolve.
Preferred location is Canberra, however flexible working arrangements may be considered. Please note: Remote working arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the supervising manager, subject to business needs.
